To Roll or To Spray

When you purchase a new home, there is a lot that goes into building up the equity on the most valuable item you own. Of course, there are exterior areas that need attention, from landscaping to painting and siding, but the interior of the house is the most important area to take care. When dealing with interior design, it is important to make sure that things are arranged in a manner that has a nice flow as you do not want there to be a cluttered feel to your home. A lot of natural light is important, as well as shelving and furniture. But what really pulls the interior of a home together is the paint job, as the color you choose determines the mood of the room.
When painting the interior of your house, you get to decide whether you want to spray or roll your paint. When making this decision you have to first look at the area you are trying to paint. Paint rollers tend to be better for larger areas, while paint sprayers can work in smaller areas. The type of paint you are using makes quite a difference, as well. Thicker paints, latex paints and oil-based paints are better suited for paint sprayers as rollers will unevenly absorb these paint types. If you are looking for a more textured look to your paint, the sprayer is the way to go. Paint rollers only lay on the paint in one way, while the sprayer gives you the option of laying down different textures. There is also the concern about the life of your tools. Paint rollers simply do not last as long as sprayers do, and they cannot be reused. If you are a perfectionist, you may want to consider a roller because they can help you get sharp edges and perfect lines, while the sprayers are difficult to use if you are painting in an area where there are places that you do not want to paint.
